Q: How did you end up where you are today?

A: "During my time at the School of Business, Economics and Law I worked at our student union company Handels Capital Management AB where I got to practise both finance and stock analysis. I also did an internship during my studies and then practised more on accounting. When I graduated, I was not sure what I wanted to do but I knew I enjoyed both finance and accounting and hoped I could combine it. After analysing the different positions I could apply for I found out that a business controller does both and realised that that was the perfect role for me."

Q: How do you look back at your time as a student?

A: "I am so happy that I decided to do my Master’s at the School. I was thinking of going somewhere else to study but after some research, I realised that the Master’s in Finance that was offered at the School of Business, Economics and Law was perfect for me. I do not regret that a single bit! During my five years as a student, I went on two exchange semesters, which is something that I truly recommend! During my bachelor’s, I went to Montreal in Canada and during my Master’s I did one semester in Lisbon, Portugal. It was amazing and I got lots of new experiences and many new friends."

Q: How did you apply for your job?

"While I was writing my master’s thesis, I saw the job advertisement on LinkedIn and applied. I did not have to apply for so many jobs before getting one. Since I am originally from Stockholm, it was an easy decision to move back."

Q: What do you do at work?

A: "I am in charge of the accounting and also a financial support function for my company’s different directorates. I follow up on our results and I also work with strategic issues. I only work in-house which means that I don’t meet with any clients."

Q: In what way do studies at master's level differ compared to master's level?

A: "The master's level is tougher, that's quite clear. But you also get a deeper understanding of subjects that you were introduced to at the bachelor's level, which means that you can use the knowledge in more areas. The feeling you get is that you finally start to really understand economics."
